Will Los Angeles Have an NFL Team Ever Again?

In 1995, Los Angeles had two professional football teams: the Rams and the Raiders. That same year, due to failed stadium talks, both teams relocated from the Los Angeles area. The Los Angeles Raiders moved back to the San Francisco Bay Area, becoming the Oakland Raiders once again. The Los Angeles Rams moved to the Midwest and became the St. Louis Rams. 1995 was a terrible year for football fans living in Los Angeles. To this day, more than 17 years later, America’s second largest sports market is still without an NFL franchise.

The Los Angeles area, which includes Orange County, forms one big sporting market. It has a total of 8 professional sports teams, which include the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Galaxy, and Chivas U.S.A. The L.A. area also has two big college football teams; UCLA and USC. With a population of more than 17 million people, you would expect L.A. to have a football team once again, but that is not the case. It’s absolutely ridiculous that the L.A. area has no football franchise at all.

Wes Welker Unhappy With Contract Talks with Patriots

It’s that time of the year again in the NFL; the off season contract talks between players and their teams. Several players in the 2012 off season are currently unhappy with their contract talks, such as running back Ray Rice of the Baltimore Ravens, quarterback Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints, and wide receiver Wes Welker of the New England Patriots. Welker, who is looking for a long-term deal and a higher paying contract, is upset with the New England Patriots front office over this past week. He has not received a contract that is both long-term or high paying, and he believes his work is going unappreciated by the franchise. Owner Robert Kraft of the Patriots has stated that the team and the representatives of wide receiver Wes Welker are in negotiations for a new deal.

On May 2nd, 2012, the NFL world was shocked and saddened to hear that longtime NFL great, and future hall of famer, Junior Seau died at the age of 43 from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. Seau was arguably one of the best linebackers to have ever played the game of football, and he was for sure going to be a member of the NFL Hall Of Fame in Canton, Ohio in the near future. Seau’s death is being ruled as an apparent suicide. Many of his family members, friends, former teammates, and fans are completely shocked and saddened by Seau’s sudden death. Many players throughout the NFL are still to this day in disbelief that Seau would take his own life. His death comes as a shock, because Seau did not show any symptoms, signs, or even clues of depression or any stress in his life. If there was something wrong with Seau, many people could not tell, because he kept it very secret. Seau had three children, two sons and a daughter.
